Mountain Bike Festival Program

Falls Creek Nov 19-20, 2016

Flowtown Grand Opening

Ignition celebrates the grand opening of Falls Creek’s newest trail “Flowtown”. Believe the hype. Flowtown connects to trails off the summit for a 10km single-track descent all the way down to the resort gates at Howmans Gap!!

Gravity Shuttles

Blue Dirt’s shuttle service is now extended to include pick-ups from Howmans Gap and the Village Bike Café in the resort’s centre. Ride any trail combinations you like. Get picked up in either location for a pedal free ride to the top. Repeat. Shuttles run non-stop 9am – 4pm both days. Click here for more shuttle information

Backcountry Rides

Falls Creek’s backcountry trails provide amazing riding across the top of Victoria. Breathtaking scenery. Adventurous spirit. Fainters Track and Timms Spurs riders enjoy a Blue Dirt Shuttle from Mt Beauty Bakery back to Falls Creek. Shuttle departs Mt Beauty 1.30pm to get you back to the resort by 2.15pm – enough time for more riding or relax with a beer in front of the fire pit.

Riders need to be self sufficient > ride packs, food, spares, water, tubes, etc.

All social rides will have a ride co-ordinator (sweep rider). Maps will be provided for all riders so they can ride at their own pace.

Fainters Track (rated Black - 50km)
The big daddy of backcountry rides. 50km from Falls Creek resort to Mt Beauty. Advanced skills and high level of fitness required. Climb over five peaks, 4 of which are over 1800m. A half kilometre rock garden with a sheer drop over the edge. Technical climbs. Technical descents. Massive views. Take on the Big Hill Downhill on your final descent – a drop of 1,100m alone to Mt Beauty. FLOW Mountain Bike says, “The ride from Falls Creek down to Mount Beauty is a real life changer. Fainters Track must be one of the best backcountry adventure rides in the country. Blown away! ” Depart from resort 8am.
Timms Spur (rated Blue – 47km)
An intermediate ride covering 47kms from Falls Creek Resort to Mt Beauty. A featured climb over Mt Spion Kopje with rocky terrain and long descents into the valley below. Trail consists of old, disused fire-trail – where there are multiple line choices. A couple of walkable river crossings are a highlight. The rides takes you from the High Country Plains above the tree line; through towering Eucalypts; under Mt Bogong and through stunning fern trees in the lower sections. Depart from resort 8am.
High Country Huts (rated Green – 20km)
Enjoy a gentle 20km ride across the high plains along aqueduct trails and fire road. Suitable for beginner/novice riders and people who just love to ride through beautiful places. Stop at historic huts, view wild flowers and sprawling plains. Cruise through snowgums and watch trout jump out of the water in the aqueducts. Ride starts & finish at resort. Depart from resort 10am.

Drift Trike Races

On Saturday jump on the Drift Trikes provided and test your skills on the track all day long if you wish. At days end (4.00pm) its trike versus trike down the course. Winner takes all. Conducted at bike village the racers will see the track lined with spectators (cheering or laughing) as you race for ultimate glory. What is a Drift Trike?
